About The Award
The Most Outstanding Agro-Processor was offered for the first time in 2006 by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and employment in the agri-business sector by rewarding the agri-business entrepreneur who makes outstanding contribution to local agriculture through the utilisation of fruits and vegetables . These contributions should be made through the use of local raw materials, development of a new product, use of a new technique, expansion of an existing business or provision of a new service which can make a significant contribution to food security, employment generation and development of new markets. The Award is an annual event.
The Award
The prestigious Most Outstanding Agro-Processor Award is expected to attract agri-business entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector as it recognises those persons in the country with outstanding agro-processed products.
Eligibility
Individuals will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Creativity of the products
- Attractiveness of the packaging and label
- Use of local fruits and vegetables
- Flavour
- Display and presentation of the product (s)
- The product must be used in a food or drink or as a drink
Winners will be selected by the Christian Valley Mango Festival Judging Committee on Sunday 15h August , 2010, judging at 1 pm
Registration 2008
Persons interested in participating in the competition should collect registration forms at the IICA Office, or fill out online and return the form with the following information:
- Name
- Telephone and address of the agri-business owner
- Name and address of the company or enterprise
- Information on the products to be considered for the Award.
Registration must be submitted on the enclosed forms no later than Friday July 30, 2010 to:
